The Perineal Clinic at the Women's takes referrals for all women who have had anal sphincter tears.
The Women's also provides 3D ultrasound and ano-rectal manometry
Specialities
- Anal sphincter tears
- Anal, vaginal or perineal tears not healing (within the first six months after the birth)
- Perineal pain (within the first six months after the birth)
- Problems with wound healing or infection (within the first six months after the birth)
Clinical inclusions
- Postpartum women who have had a 3rd or 4th degree tear during childbirth
Clinical exclusions
- Postpartum women who have had a 3rd or 4th degree tear must be within six months

In your referral please include the following or the referral cannot be processed:
- Date of delivery
- Mode of delivery
- Type of anal sphincter tear
- All investigations
- Mobility problems

Appointment
An acknowledgement letter will be sent directly to the patient and the GP will be notified. The patient will then receive a letter with the appointment details.
