In addition to providing leading clinical care for women and newborns, the Women’s is internationally recognised for its excellence in research.
Our 10 research centres cover the spectrum of women’s and newborn health – gynaecology, women’s cancers, infectious diseases, pregnancy conditions, midwifery and maternity care, newborn health, allied health, mental health, anaesthetics, and family violence prevention.
Each year, the Women’s researchers conduct around 60 clinical trials involving thousands of women and babies – and they share their knowledge with the world, averaging more than 200 peer-reviewed publications annually.
These findings often translate to a range of settings – from consult rooms and patient bedsides to public health policy and national and international prevention programs.
Our research activities are largely dependent on competitive grants and philanthropy.
