The Women’s Disability Liaison Officer is available to support patients, their families and carers to use the Women’s health services and access care and treatment.
The Disability Liaison Officer should be contacted if patients are experiencing barriers to accessing healthcare due to their disability.
Services
The Women's Disability Liaison Officer can support patients, their families and carers with:
- General support and advice on accessing the Women’s healthcare and services.
- Specific support to access our clinical services including maternity, gynaecological, sexual and reproductive health, allied health and other Royal Women’s Hospital services.
- Helping the patient's care team to understand specific needs and ensuring that the patient is provided with safe, accessible and inclusive care during their hospital stay and outpatient clinic appointments.
- Support to access services at other hospitals, healthcare providers and organisations where barriers exist, including advice regarding the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Frequency
This service is temporarily unavailable – we apologise for any inconvenience. We are recruiting for a staff member and the service will re-open for referrals soon.
Referrals
The patient must consent to the service. They can be referred by a healthcare professional or the patient may self-refer.
Appointments
The Disability Liaison Officer will make direct contact with the patient.
